In 1235 , Fujiwara no Yoritsune (the 4th Shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate) invited Jogou (a Shingon Buddhist monk) to be the first chief priest and built a Shingon Buddhist temple. It is said that he built Myo-in Temple, which enshrines the Five Great Wisdom Kings , to protect the direction of the demon's gate(northeast) from the Kamakura Shogunate's point of view.
It was said to be a temple where the Kamakura Shogunate would make their wishes.
It is said that when the Chinese Yuan Dynasty invaded, the temple held a goma ritual, summoning a storm and fending off the Mongol invasion.

It is not open to the public.
It is open to the public on the 28th of each month during the Goma ceremony, so you can see it.
It was made in the Kamakura period and is a national important cultural property .

The Five Great Myo-o are
① Acala (Fudo Myo-o) at the center .
Surrounding him are② Daiitoku Myo-o (Daitoku Myo-o) ,③ Gundari Myo-o (Gundari Myo-o) ,④ Gozanze Myo-o (Gozanze Myo-o) , and⑤ Kongoyasha Myo-o (Kongoyasha Myo-o) .
This is the collective name for the five Myo-o.
③ There is Eleven-Faced Kannon Bodhisattva.

On the 28th of each month, a goma ritual is held starting at 1pm, which is designated as "Fudo Myo-o Day."
On the 28th, you can see the Fudo Myo-o statue in the main hall.
