It was founded in 736 by Fujiwara Fusasaki (grandson of Fujiwara Kamatari) and appointed Tokudo as the first chief priest.
In contrast to Hasedera Temple in Nara, it is also called " Shin-Hasedera Temple.(New Hasedera temple)"
Ⓐ In December, the only " New Year's Market" will be held in Kamakura .
Ⓑ The Hase Market is held on the third Sunday of May and October .
It is known as Hase kannon bodhisattva”
”It is a wooden Kannon Bodhisattva that is 9.18 meters tall.
①In 1342, Ashikaga Takauji (the first Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate) decorated the statue with gold leaf ,
and ②it is said that Ashikaga Yoshimitsu (the third Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate) created the halo of the Kannon Bodhisattva .
In 721, the first head priest, Tokudo, carved two eleven-faced Kannon statues from a sacred camphor tree he found in the mountains of Nara .
➀ One of them became the Kannon statue of Hasedera Temple in Nara.
➁ The remaining one, B, became the Kannon statue of Hasedera Temple in Kamakura.
The reason why the Kannon statue of Hasedera Temple was enshrined in Kamakura is that it was sent out to sea after a prayer was offered, and it ended up washing up in Nagaiura on the Miura Peninsula.
It is said that the Kannon statue was then moved to the current site of Kamakura, enshrined as the principal image, and Hasedera Temple was built .

Minamoto-no-Yoritomo( the first Shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate) to protect from misfortune at the age of 42.
It is also called the "Evil-warding Amida."
It is about 3 meters tall and is one of the six Amida statues in Kamakura.
There is a big red lantern with the name "Hasedera " hanging there.
There is also a pine tree called"Kado-kaburi no Matsu" (gate-covered pine tree) .
This bell was made in 1264.
It is a national important cultural property .

The scriptures are stored in a "rotating bookshelf ."
It is said that one rotation of the book brings the same merit as reading all 5,400 volumes of Buddhist scriptures .
It can be rotated on ① the first three days of the New Year, ② the 18th of every month, ③ April 8th, and ④ August 10th .
It is said that the shrine enshrines an oyster that was attached to the principal image Kannon statue that washed ashore on the Miura Peninsula .

The Daikokuten statue, made in 1412, is located in the Kannon Museum (currently closed to the public).
It is one of the Seven deities of good luck in Enoshima, Kamakura .
It enshrines Fukutoku Benzaiten.

The original eight-armed Benzaiten is said to have been made by Kobo Daishi (Kukai) .
It is currently located in the Kannon Museum.

You can see 2,500 hydrangeas of 40 different varieties .
You can see the sea of Kamakura from the observation deck.
They offer " Temple Curry " , a vegetarian dish that does not contain meat .
You can do ① " copying sutras " and ② " copying Buddha " in the Shoin of the sutra copying area. Once you're done, you can place it in front of the treasure house or in the Kannon Hall in the venue.
