① In 1255, Hojo Masako built Chorakuji Temple to pray for the repose of her husband, Minamoto no Yoritomo.
② In 1333, Chorakuji Temple was burned down in a war and was merged with Zendo-ji Temple to become An'yoin Chorakuji Temple.(The name An'yoin is said to have been taken from Hojo Masako's posthumous name.)
③ Then, in 1680, in the early Edo period, An'yoin Chorakuji Temple was burned down, so it was rebuilt by moving the Kannon Hall of Tashiro-ji Temple, which had been built by Tashiro Nobutsuna (who served Minamoto no Yoritomo).For this reason, it is also known as "Tashiro-ji Temple."
The purple azalea is famous.

Ⓑ When Hojo Masako (wife of Minamoto no Yoritomo) prayed to this Kannon statue,she was united with Minamoto no Yoritomo and took over the country , and so the statue came to be known as the " Good Marriage Kannon" and the "Commerce Kannon."
It is said to have been built in the 14th century.

It is also called Kusamaki because it gives off a unique smell when cut.The bark is grayish white and shallowly fissured vertically.It is resistant to water and pests and has a long shelf life. It is also planted as a garden tree, or as a windbreak for houses and fields for fire, wind, and soundproofing purposes.
There are two stone towers .
Ⓐ The "large stone tower" is said to be the gravestone of Sonkan, the first Temple, the predecessor of An'yo-in Temple .Built in 1308, it is said to be the oldest stone tower in Kamakura.
It is a nationally important cultural property .
