Divine Blessing Protection from misfortune

In 1869, Kamakuraguu Shrine was built "by the personal command of Emperor Meiji ."

In 1333, his son, Prince Morinaga, together with his father, Emperor Godaigo, overthrew the Kamakura Shogunate. He

then established the Kenmu Restoration, experiencing the historic event of transferring power from the samurai to the Emperor .

It is said that Kamakuraguu Shrine was built because Emperor Meiji wanted to "convey the wishes of Prince Morinaga, who died at a young age , to future generations."

In 1333, his son, Prince Morinaga, together with his father, Emperor Godaigo, overthrew the Kamakura Shogunate. He then established the Kenmu Restoration, experiencing the historic event of transferring power from the samurai to the Emperor .

On the other hand, Emperor Meiji also experienced the historical event of transferring political power from the samurai to the emperor in 1867.

Murakami Hikoshirō Yoshimitsu committed seppuku in place of Prince Morinaga .

In order to allow Prince Morinaga to escape, Murakami Hikoshiro Yoshimitsu deceived the enemy by wearing Prince Morinaga's armor.
It is said that he took the prince's place and had his stomach cut in a cross shape to meet a heroic end.

A statue of Murakami Hikoshiro Yoshimitsu was carved from a large tree in the temple grounds.

It is painted in two colors, red and white, which is rare for a torii gate .
