The god of Sasuke Inari Shrine appeared in the dream of Minamoto no Yoritomo , who was exiled to Izu after losing to the Taira clan in the Heiji Rebellion . He then told the Taira clan to fight.
Because of this, the shrine is called Shusse Inari , due to the legend that the Genji clan was able to defeat the Taira clan .
It became independent from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in 1909.
There are 49 vermilion torii gates lined up.
A white fox is enshrined here.
There are also "pet votive plaques" and " pet amulets" on display.
The shrine is also known as a place to pray for the happiness of pets .
The Hatsu-uma Festival is held on the first day of the horse month in February (when there are no typhoons or infectious diseases).
